Dedication

by Corey Brown on 12/20/12

Christmas is almost here and I have the joy of Entreating in Easley, SC this weekend. Today I will be preparing playlists and setting up in the garage to make sure all the equipment is in perfect working order while there is time to fix something if it is need of repair. This thought made me wonder if other DJ’s do this as well. I sometimes make the mistake of thinking that everyone in this business cares as much as I do about your event.  This might be a good question to ask when looking to hire a South Carolina Wedding DJ. Does your DJ do a test run or just pray that it all will work?

Off Season

by Corey Brown on 11/30/12

Typically Febuary is a slower month for weddings for us so this year we plan on trying to pick up a few parties or reunions and have some charity work planned. Maybe even do a sweet 16 party or two. This thought did made me want to make a point to readers who maybe have not picked a date. Consider having your ceremony and reception in a month that is not considered "peak" if you are on a tight budget and need to cut some corners. Greenville Wedding DJ's and most other wedding vendor are a little more flexable during the "off season" months. Wedding vendors operate off of supply and demand just like everyone else. Food for thought.

Meeting with new customers

by Corey Brown on 11/29/12

It is always such a pleasure to get the opportunity to meet with new clients. Last night I had the pleasure of meeting with our latest couple to sign a contract and was really impressed with them and the ideas that they shared. They also listened to the suggestions I had to offer and I think we are on the same page. In all honesty most of my clients don't ask to meet but I think that it really benefits us both. I alway's have a better understanding of what I need to do as a Greenville, SC wedding DJ / Emcee when meeting a client in person. I would not go as far as to say that it could not be done in a phone conference but I will say that I don't think understanding your client's can be done as well over the phone or by email. Something to keep in mind as you are looking to hire a South Carolina Wedding DJ.

Not JUST a "DJ"

We specialize in Weddings - Reception's as well as ceremonies. We are one of the premiere DJ companies in the tri-state area but still the term DJ does not represent what we do very well because we are first and foremost customer service experts. We are not as concerned so much about what we want to play or what your guests want to hear on this very special day and our primary concern is making it a day that you will enjoy. Playing your requests and fulfilling yourdreams – this is our focus. I want to play a part in your fairy tale. I have been known to say that “I have one glass slipper and am willing to travel”.  If you have a special need or idea for your reception and or ceremony I will do everything within my power to make it happen.

Secondly, we are your Master of ceremony. We use our "wedding timeline" which is designed with your help to keep the day moving along but lively and upbeat. We interact with your guests and bring a radio style voice to you. No need to stress over when to cut the cake or have a toast made - that is our job and we will see that it gets done and make sure the photographer is ready and in place. At receptions and ceremonies we always wear a plain black and white tuxedo to signify to your guests that we are a small part of your event. There is nothing flashy or upscale about it but a little higher standard than the normal DJ. We are representing you and presenting you to your family and friends and believe that our attire should be representative of such. This is not to say that we do not know how to blend in. After making an announcement and drawing the crowd’s attention to you I slowly back away so that you are the center of attention. I will be probably be the only guy there in a tux that no one remembers other than “that guy was good”.

Thirdly, we are audio engineers. Our systems produce SRS Premium sound due to our digital processors but the sound we get at each venue is because we know what we are doing. Pro – Audio sound systems are not “plug and play” like a home stereo. It takes years of experience to be able to know how to get the best sound out of the simplest setup. We have gone to the trouble and expense of having redundant equipment on scene and at hand in case of a problem.

Lastly, yes we are DJ's. We know what to play and when to play it and you have the option to leave us in total control of this with no input or you can create the entire playlist. It is not my day - it is yours. It would be a challenge for you to find anyone who genuinely cares as much about your Ceremony and Reception as I do and that’s because this is not just a job for me – it is my passion and my ministry. That’s why my motto is “Romantics at Heart – DJ’s by Trade”.  By all means if you are throwing any old party hire the cheapest guy you can find with decent equipment and let him “scratch” away but in my humble opinion “your day” is not the time to do this.

I can hear what you are thinking this must be expensive. We charge less than the national average hourly rate for Professional DJ's even though we are much much more. There is a travel expense charge for areas outside of a 100 mile radius of Greenville SC. Our rates are based solely on playing time. We do not charge you for the 2.5 hours it takes to set up equipment nor do we charge for two hours it takes to pack up. We do not charge for the 45-50 hours per week that we spend on the internet and computers marketing and filling out contracts. We do not charge to help you in your search for other professional vendors and are constantly taking phone calls and answering emails to field our customer’s questions and concerns. The travel charge (if applicable) is not based on time but solely for gas and wear and tear. Call today for a free consultation! Dates are filling fast and to God be the Glory.

Thanks for reading!

Why “The Wedding DJ” is a Grenville Wedding DJ

Why  “The Wedding DJ”  is a Grenville Wedding DJ

I am 43 years old and I entertained at my first wedding for a friend when I was 16 years old.  My friend and his groomsmen made up a flash mob dance for the reception and I provided the music. I was hooked. I continued to do parties and whatever I could get throughout the years and had gotten away somewhat from weddings and receptions. Several years ago another friend told me that at her wedding the DJ that she had hired did not meet her expectations. She commented on how he played inappropriate music and did not do much else.

I created “The Wedding DJ” to provide better service to the wedding industry. I strive at knowing the music I play so that the language is appropriate for a reception. It’s not as easy as it sounds as some “clean” versions of popular songs sometimes contain inappropriate language and topics. In addition I began to coordinate with the other vendors to make sure that everything was as it should be. For instance, I constantly check with the photographer to make sure neither that myself nor my equipment or wiring is in their way. I also work closely with wedding planners and coordinators to ensure that the reception follows a smooth but fun time line. At most receptions, there is not a coordinator so I try to fill those shoes by making sure that all of the traditional tasks are completed such as the bouquet toss and cake cutting. I emcee each task and consult with the other vendors to ensure that the food is ready to be served and the photographer is in place to preserve memories before making any announcement.

I chose to write about this in my blog today because something awesome happened at a recent wedding which reminded me of why I am in this business. During the father / Daughter dance I could see that the Bride’s father was whispering something in her ear and then she began to cry. I am a big and somewhat tough guy but I about lost it. A sudden realization came over me that I am a Greenville Wedding DJ because I love it! I get to share in the most special day of people’s lives and there is no drug or amount of money that can replace that. I wish I could afford to do this for free.

So I must say thank you to my friend and I am sorry that I was unable to be at your wedding and reception. I feel as though I missed out and wasn’t there for you.
